I protect companies from what is usually their greatest asset: their workers.

I defend employers in court and advise clients so that they avoid getting sued in the first place.

I created this blog so that I can update readers on issues relating to employment law (and employee benefits).

At the law firm of McPharlin, Sprinkles & Thomas LLP, I counsel employers in all aspects of employment law. I work with clients regarding leaves of absence, compensation, separations, and performance matters. I train human resources professionals and company staff members on topics such as sexual harassment prevention, leaves of absence management, and employee relations. I draft and review handbooks and policies and other communications.

I vigorously defend employers in discrimination, harassment and retaliation lawsuits based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability and other protected classes. I help employers resolve wage and hour problems such as unpaid overtime and breaks.

I investigate workplace complaints.   I train managers and staff on harassment prevention.

And I practice ERISA / employee benefits law, helping plans with IRS and DOL audits and applying for voluntary correction programs.
